At this time, we have one opening for a Teacher Assistant. For this position, we are looking for a person experienced with kindergarten and/or elementary (grades 1-4) students.

Qualifications
Education: A bachelors in education or a related field is preferred. This can be replaced with a high school diploma and 5+ years of previous experience in a teacher assistant capacity or related field experience.
Experience: 2+ years of teacher assistant experience or related field experience

Key Responsibilities
- ensuring that all child protection and safeguarding expectations are met
- completing his/her role in emergency evacuations and other site safety needs
- supporting and supervising school activities to ensure the safety of all students
- fostering a safe environment that is kept free of any items that may pose safety risks to students
- ensuring that students are never left unaccompanied or unsupervised;
- collaborating to ensure that supervision needs are balanced with instructional needs
- caring for students by supporting their emotional wellbeing (i.e., listening and responding to students’ needs)
- building positive relationships with all students by treating them with dignity, respect, and as unique individuals
- laying positive behavior foundations that support self regulation and effective interactions with peers and adults
- handling off-task behavior and misbehavior respectfully and helping students to get back on track, repair damage caused, and develop self discipline to prevent similar problems in the future
- helping to prepare applicable materials/aids for lesson support that engages students and meets the needs of all students
- demonstrating and using content knowledge to support, reteach, and reinforce current and previous content being learned
- delivering small-group instruction and one-on-one assessments
- helping to ensure that students are highly involved in focused and intentional tasks that showcase them as active learners and problem-solvers
- responding to families about classroom logistics and using no more than a 48-hour window to reply to communication from families via Outlook or phone calls (followed by an e-mail with the homeroom teacher cc-ed)
- translating communication (e.g., e-mails, newsletters, etc.) to be sent to families by the homeroom teacher
- helping to prepare portfolios/student files for conferences as scheduled but also organizing information for scheduled meetings with families
- attending and/or helping to plan/execute school and community events/tasks, including but not limited to, WASC Action Groups, community gatherings, and after-hours activities and competitions
