Calix is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to work with our ODM partners developing Calix premises ONT and GigaSpire Blast products. This position focuses on developing system requirements, overseeing project development and ensuring high quality results for residential and business gateways in both the telecom and MSO market spaces. This role also works closely with product line leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver world class products.

Key Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

• Involvement with up front project planning, contributing to technology assessment, cost analysis, and system requirements development.
• Independently leading ODM projects. Providing guidance to cross-functional teams and ODM partners to enable effective decisions based on the program’s big picture goals,
  
  • Leading the ODM HW development process ensuring schedules are kept on track.
  • Reviewing ODM deliverables to ensure product quality.
  • Partnering with the ODM vendor to identify and execute component qualifications for cost reduction or EOL purpose.
• Driving and managing the ODM hardware team to continually improve product quality.
  
  • DFX consideration and implementation.
  • Identifying and improving potential marginal designs.
  • Analyzing field issues and taking corrective actions.
• Evaluating and executing test cases during internal verification.
• Supporting the extended team through continuous documentation improvement efforts such as building knowledge databases and sharing of best practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree or above in electronics, communication and automation related.
• 9+ years or above relevant industry hardware development experience in premise networking products
• Very familiar with access networking technology and standards.
• Strong Wi-Fi and PON experience is preferred.
• SMB product background and strong experience in outdoor applications is preferred.
• ODM/JDM business working experience is preferred.
• PMP training or PMP certified is preferred.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally.
• Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, good sense of priority and time management.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills
• Good English written and oral skills are preferred
