Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree;
- Previous work experience in solving business problems using optimization techniques and running project management offices is preferred
- Ability to understand financial and operating levers (e.g. business plan modelling) is a must
- Demonstrated aptitude for analytical and conceptual problem solving; comfort with quantitative analysis and managerial accounting
- Entrepreneurial and proactively thinking about potential improvements to how things are done ; highly pragmatic, focused on achieving outcomes and impact.
- Detail oriented and with ability to work under pressure; mentally resilient to sustain the journey
- Energetic, cooperative, and pleasant personality; ability to work with and coach effectively in a diverse group of team members
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, verbally and in writing, both in English and Chinese
You will be serving clients in a transformation leader capacity, coaching them along their multi-year transformation journey.
You will operate as part of an engagement team, typically consisting of a team of 2-5 consultants led by an engagement manager. Together you will drive the day-to-day execution of a transformation effort to help clients achieve new performance highs in their business.
You will apply the McKinsey Transformation (MT) recipe of leveraging a holistic, execution-centric approach, in addition to integrating the best of the firm. This means you will primarily be working with clients to set-up and execute a best-in-class Transformation Office and the related Performance Infrastructure. You will deploy a standard cadence as well as MT’s transformation management tool (Wave) and various assets/ solutions critical to a transformation spanning across organization health, capability building, digital, etc. Your work will be conducted across 3 standard phases independent diligence phase (6-8 weeks), bottom-up phase (6-8 weeks) and implementation (12+ months).
You will work directly with clients - usually on site - and will take ownership of specific workstreams and end-products within the overall transformation program. You will be responsible for delivering the transformation objectives within your workstream, coaching your clients to develop and execute effective improvement plans and role-modeling a mindset of rapid decision-making. Above all, your job will be to mobilize and help clients to achieve change that exceeds their expectations.
More broadly, you will have the opportunity to build on your proven capabilities and leverage a range of influencing styles. You will inspire others, build strong relationship, and display high energy and resilience in ambiguous and fast-paced contexts. In a collaborative team setting, you’ll work closely with others but will also – after appropriate apprenticeship – be expected to operate autonomously to drive progress in your areas of accountability.
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll be based in our Shanghai or Taipei office and will be part of the McKinsey Transformation (MT) team in Greater China as a Junior Capabilities and Insights Analyst, primarily focused on the Transformation Office (TO). This is the heart of the MT methodology that orchestrates all client and McKinsey activity to set the pace, the tone and to drive the transformation.
