Manor Renewable Energy Ltd supports the development, construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects by supplying temporary power, vessel provision, engineering services, remedial works and marine consultancy services. In 2022 Manor Renewable Energy Ltd acquired Opus Marine Gmbh, a vessel operator based in Germany with a Taiwan subsidiary.

To support Manor Renewable Energy’s continued growth and realise the many exciting new opportunities in the renewables sector, we have

a new permanent role within our finance team based in Taipei, Taiwan. This opportunity will provide the successful candidate with career & professional development.

Position:

Reporting to our UK Finance Director and Taiwan country manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day Finance function, month end reporting and employer/tax compliance. The role involves working with our external accountants to prepare the month end accounts and in time will bring in-house the transaction processing with a new accounting system.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide a comprehensive day-to-day finance & accounting service including providing external accountants with sales/purchase invoices & payroll to process.
  • Supervise external accountants to provide month end management accounts for the MRE Taiwan branch and its Taiwan subsidiary. Work with the UK Finance team to consolidate MRE Taiwan branch results.
  • Partner closely with local management team to provide high quality and detailed analysis of business performance identifying variances, issues, opportunities and actions to make informed operational, financial and strategic decisions,
  • Prepare and file the VAT & payroll tax returns, prepare annual corporate income tax packs, deal with Taiwan customs on duty/tax when importing equipment from the UK, VAT & employer tax compliance.
  • Preparation of the annual Budget and Financial Plans for submission to the Boards in accordance with Group timetable and rolling updates each quarter.
  • Support UK Treasury by providing monthly cash flow forecasts & analysis.
  • Work with the UK Financial Controller to harmonise the finance business processes in Taiwan by defining and articulating current and future finance business needs.
  • Work with the UK Finance team to implement accounting & payroll systems to bring in-house the outsourced bookkeeping and payroll functions.
  • Supervise the year-end audit, provide information to the auditors and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Be responsible for and drive data quality standards across finance.
  • Provide user support and training on all finance business systems to local end users.
Requirements:

Qualifications & experience:

The successful candidate will be:
  • A qualified Accountant and member of the Taiwan CPA or ACCA
  • Have at least 3+ years working experience in marine/engineering/construction preparing month end management accounts
  • Working experience in audit firm is a plus
  • Have high competencies in Taiwan GAAP, IFRS, technical accounting, corporate income tax, VAT and payroll taxes
  • Experience of manipulating, analysing and modelling data
  • Ability to audit and forensically examine data
  • Ideally possess experience in implementing a finance system & business processes mapping.
  • Proficient with accounting software
  • Comfortable interacting with board directors and stakeholders
  • Fluent in spoken & written English & Mandarin.
Although this post will be based in our Taipei office the candidate may be required to travel to our Taichung office or other locations as the business requires.

Other information:

Competitive salary, 15 days holiday + bank holidays per year, pension. Full time 37 ½ hours week.

Must have the right to work in Taiwan.
