DescriptionProvide leadership and direction for the Supply Base Management function for the Copper Solutions BU. Establish and implement programs and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, delivery, and risk reduction for shipping products. Lead the New Product Development Sourcing Team for the BU. Support the Division’s overall strategic procurement objectives (e.g., competitive cost advantage, supply base consolidation, improve supplier performance, and support needs of internal customers).
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Strategy: Leadership role in the development of Datacom & Specialty Solutions Division and CSBU procurement strategies that align with global commodity strategies and the Division’s overall procurement strategy. Design KPIs, track progress and adjust strategies to ensure competitiveness and continuous improvement.
- Leadership: Align resources with requirements and opportunities in the Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, and the Supply Base. Anticipate and lead change. Envision what could be, challenge status quo, and drive change. Continue building a high-performing team with a broad range of commercial, technical, and organizational skills to ensure leverage in supplier selections, negotiations, and improving supplier performance. Develop supply base to meet business needs and drive continuous improvement.
- New Product Launch: Lead the New Product Development Sourcing teams to ensure new products launch on schedule, without supplier issues, at or below cost targets, and with mitigated risks. Ensure the suppliers are ready for launch and that they can ramp up per the customer’s needs.
- Pricing & Cost: Regularly organize and conduct pricing benchmarks and competitive analysis based on Total Cost of Ownership of key parts and key suppliers to identify cost reduction opportunities. Also work with Engineering, Supply Chain, Category Managers, and the supply base to identify cost reduction opportunities. Prioritize, gain appropriate support from the Business, and drive implementation of the cost reductions.
- Supply Base Development & Management: Establish long term supplier relationships with Preferred Suppliers. Drive supplier consolidation and move business away from suppliers that are not preferred. Minimize the amount of business with suppliers where the Molex spend is insignificant. Secure supply. Assess risk and lead mitigation efforts. Implement Supply Agreements and Inventory management agreements. Drive IT integration with key suppliers to improve efficiencies and communication.
- Supplier Performance: Manage supplier performance to meet the needs of the Division’s operations. Communicate the suppliers’ performance by use of the Supplier Scorecard. Meet regularly with the management team of the key suppliers to assure that our requirements are understood, and/or corrective plans are in place. Achieve year on year performance improvements. Utilize Supplier Inventory Management programs or other Supply Chain Tools as required to improve cash flow, lead time, and cost.
- Compliance: Conduct all affairs with integrity. Ensure that the Supply Base and the Molex Procurement team operate within the framework of regulatory and legal requirements. This includes but is not limited to compliance with Safety, Environmental, SOX, Tax, Customs and Ethical requirements. Gain understanding and acceptance of respective documents, such as the Molex Code of Conduct, Molex Terms and Conditions and cover any other requirements through Supply Agreements. Coordinate efforts with other Divisions to ensure consistency with common suppliers and commodities.
- Best Practices: Promote the implementation of “best practices” as it relates to Procurement and Supply Chain Management. Meet periodically with other Procurement teams across Divisions to share best practices, supplier information, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in global procurement management with significant experience in international negotiations /management. Global knowledge of suppliers and international markets.Related industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Strong strategic leadership and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to understand the needs of internal customers and incorporate local requirements
- Team player with strong project management skills / Ability to work with multiple functions in locations throughout the world
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Computer proficiency (spreadsheet, database, presentation software)
- A sense of urgency, high energy, and self-motivated
- SAP and Ariba experience
- Abroad work experience
- MBA or other related graduate degree
