We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join dynamic at BTSE, a leading cryptocurrency exchange and financial services company. You will build an outstanding finance function that leverages the expertise of the finance professions in BTSE. Reporting directly to the CEO and communicating regularly to the COO and executive team, you will be responsible for hands-on management of corporate finances and providing trusted strategic financial advice to the senior leadership team, leading the group finance function, and delivering core financial responsibilities ensuring accurate accounting and budgeting, value for money and good financial governance.

Strategy, Planning and Management

• Act as strategic business partner to the senior executive leadership team.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts for profitability, and long-term sustainability.
• Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
• Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
• Communicate, engage and interact with the Board of Directors, CEO, COO and Executive Leadership Team.
• Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
• Select and engage consultants, auditors and investors.
• Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting and payroll staff as required.
• Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and round table discussion panel.
• Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
• Interact with and bring the department into line with the Board of Directors’ plans, initiatives and recommendations.
• Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by the senior leadership team.
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
• Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
• Acting as a representative of the Company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, auditors and government officials.

Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting

• Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and weekly cash flow by division.
• Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
• Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings.
• Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
• Manage financial planning and analysis department. Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
• Participate in weekly conference calls with Lenders, Vendors and Executive Leadership Team.

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

• Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems.
• Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for investors and company’s board of directors.
• Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.
• Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all jurisdictions’ tax returns.
• Work with the Human Resources department and Legal department to ensure appropriate legal compliance on Labour Laws and various applicable laws from an accounting perspective.
• Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
• Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs
• Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process

Treasury Management and Settlement

• Supervise both the Treasury and Settlement teams
• Review existing policies and procedures of Treasury team to ensure proper wallet management and asset protection
• Collaborate among different teams to ensure hedging of risky positions are executed
• Review hedging cost and provide guidance to the team for the most efficient hedging instruments
• Make sure the Settlement policy and procedures are best practice in the industry

Risk Management

• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate risk management practices to safeguard company assets and customers’ assets, ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Investor Relations

• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and financial institutions, providing transparent and reliable financial information.

Compliance and Regulation

• Stay updated with relevant financial regulations and ensure the company’s adherence to legal requirements and financial standards in the cryptocurrency space.

Team Leadership

• Lead the finance, treasury, settlement and accounting teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of senior management experience.
• Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role within the cryptocurrency or fintech industry.
• Good understanding of cryptocurrency market dynamics, financial instruments, and blockchain technology.
• Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex financial structures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
