Job Summary

The R&D Verification Engineer is responsible for functional testing of our flagship product OpticStudio and for functional testing of all add-in modules to OpticStudio. In this role, the Verification Engineer will define test plans for validating functionality of both new features and bug fixes added to the software, with a focus on testing workflow, user interface, and optical engineering calculations. This individual is then responsible for executing those test plans, using test files they create as well as test files provided by other technical staff within the R&D organization. The Verification Engineer will work closely with R&D to ensure the functional accuracy of all new features and bug fixes, helping drive the on-time delivery of high-quality software to our customers.

Experience Requirements

• BS in Optical Engineering or directly related field, MS preferred
• 3+ years OpticStudio experience
• 1+ years using a modern programming language (such as Python or MATLAB) for computational analysis and/or modeling
• 1+ years of industrial experience designing, building, and/or testing optical products
• Familiarity with software testing practices and processes
• Familiarity with the OpticStudio Application Programming Interface (ZOS-API) preferred
• Familiarity with opto-mechanical design and fabrication preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

• Engaging with the Product Management and R&D teams to understand how Targeted Sellable Value Propositions (TSVPs) are being broken down into Epics, Features and User Stories
  

Tactical Responsibilities

• Working closely with the R&D team to create test plans for the optical engineering aspects of each User Story
• Testing each User Story and bug fix as it is completed
• Interacting with technical staff to ensure thorough, non-redundant testing of OpticStudio and all add-in modules
• Accurately communicating any bugs or product feedback to the Product Management and R&D teams
