Job Overview

The role supports and facilitates programs such as 6S, value stream mapping, Kaizen events, gemba walk, and workshops or trainings to drive and promote continuous improvement and lean manufacturing culture. The role works collaboratively across functions in the utilization of lean manufacturing tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, OEE, Kanban, standardized work, process problem solving, and error proofing. The role assists with compiling key performance indicators that enable effective decision making and project prioritization. The role also serves as a change agent, fostering a continuous improvement and industrial engineering mindset throughout the Manufacturing facility. The role utilizes and matures Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies, tools and templates within the Operations and Systems Improvement team and in support of manufacturing operations. The role also charters, manages and/or supports medium scale cross-functional projects that support site goals, continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.

Responsibilities

Industrial Engineering

• Reduce, if cannot totally eliminate, non-value-added waste/activities within manufacturing and supporting operations

• Promote RFT (Right First Time), improve cycle times, operation efficiency, and maximize productivity

• Productivity planning, material flow analysis, equipment capacity analysis, process effectiveness analysis, time standards, value stream mapping, process flow and line balancing

• Identify, prioritize and implement solutions for operation improvement and standardization

• Utilize and mature lean six sigma tools and methodologies and enable others to use the tools effectively

Continuous Improvement/Project Management

• Support and/or manage medium scale cross-functional continuous improvement projects

• Support cross-functional projects requiring problem solving or process improvement roadmaps and tools

• Assist Operations (Manufacturing/ QA/QC/ Supply Chain) team with conducting Kaizen events.

• Manage project plans, dependencies, key deliverables and achievements, as well as project communications

• Partner with respective Operations department to drive continuous improvement activities

• Provide support as a SME to CI/project teams during project lifecycles.

Data Analysis & Communication

• Data analysis and visualization to aide in continuous improvement idea generation

• Instil a lean/continuous improvement culture throughout the organization

• Support systems to foster accountability and recognition of continuous improvement efforts

• Perform data analysis to identify where to focus resources on opportunities for improvement in operating costs, quality, and delivery.

• Develop tools for operational data analysis and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics tracking

Requirements

• BS in Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge of process improvement tools; solid understanding of Lean and operational excellence tool and methodologies (e.g., Visual management, OEE, Kanban, VSM, 5 Why’s, A3, Kaizen events, etc.)

• Ability to utilize Lean and/or Continuous improvement tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvement.

• Knowledgeable in utilizing systems to gather data, organize/interpret, and report for various leadership teams

• Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills including the ability to work well on cross-functional teams at all levels within the organization

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group setting, as well as influence without authority

• Good planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong computer skills, including experience in MS Office – including MS Project/Visio and statistical software packages e.g. Minitab.

• Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, agility, and change management skills
