Role

The successful candidate will operate as a member of the Corporate Mechanical Engineering department drafting team. Responsibilities include creating and updating solid models of electro-mechanical components, creating and modifying part/assembly drawings, releasing documents to configuration management system, and incorporating engineering change orders.

The mechanical drafter will interface with internal staff in the fast-paced execution of a variety of multi-disciplined projects.

This successful candidate will need to effectively communication across Geo’s (USA, China, and EU) both, verbally and written daily.

Skills/Experience

• 2-5 years of experience as a mechanical drafter or equivalent educational training in mechanical drafting.
• Good knowledge of industry documentation practices.
• Request part numbers from configuration management system.
• Create 3-D CAD models of off-the-shelf electro-mechanical components.
• Create 2-D engineering drawings for electro-mechanical parts and assemblies, labels, cables, and circuit board assemblies.
• Create and modify circuit card mechanical constraints drawings, including SMT fabrication panel details.
• Create circuit card assembly drawings from CAD data.
• Release documents and BOMs to configuration management system.
• Incorporate ECOs in configuration management system.
• Understand and apply department modeling and drafting practices.
• Follow established processes and submit work for review.
• Effectively interact with design team and configuration management personnel to ensure timely release of documents.
• Operate in a team environment and able to respond effectively to changing priorities.
• Effectively communicate with teams across Geo’s (USA, China and EU).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of e-mail, web meetings, and instant messaging.
• Self-motivated.
  
  

Additional Skills

• Experience with Creo or Pro/Engineer for solid model and drawing creation.
• Experience with AgileEC or Windchill (PDM) file management system.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw for artwork.
• Good knowledge of ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Knowledge of Agile configuration management system (PLM) desired but not required.
• Frequently transports and install equipment up to 5 lbs.
• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g. standing or sitting).
• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
  
  

Education Requirements

Diploma or Associates degree in a related technical field desired

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
• Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye-coordination.
