Minimum qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in quantitative and objective camera image quality measurement and benchmark.
  • 1 year of experience in data statistic and analysis tool development.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience in quantitative and objective camera image quality measurement, benchmark, test plan, protocol development, and cross-team testing collaboration.
  • 2 years of experience in data statistic and analysis tool development.
  • 1 year of camera ISP/3A tuning experience.

About The Job

Google’s custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you’re sure it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability.

As a Hardware Testing Engineer, you review system designs and test them against the specifications. You plan for the testing, execute the testing, and report the problems to the development team to enable the development of systems, infrastructures, and products. You execute verification and qualifications during the design phase, complete the physical modifications of the hardware to enable testing, and observe and debug live hardware. You evaluate, verify, and improve Google’s hardware test coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct design and test reviews. Conduct test plans and reviews with engineers, within one or more teams, to gather feedback.
  • Develop test methodologies and new tools. Developing tool image quality data statistics/analysis tool by C or C++ or C# or Python. Contribute to design reviews for testability by conducting experiments.
  • Drive corrective action during verification.Report bugs during verification and recommend corrective action, where needed, with development teams.
  • Communicate clearly, participate actively, and share relevant information. Proactively offer to help teammates.
  • Evolve test methodologies, and develop new tools and workflows to improve product quality, testing efficiency, and validation processes across teams, based on comprehensive knowledge of technology trends and industry state of the art.
