• Experience in storage software stack, like system utilities, file systems, device drivers, and controller firmware.
• Experience in storage devices and interfaces (e.g., HDD, SSD, NAS, SATA, SAS, and NVMe).
• Experience in enterprise storage servers, performance analysis, reliability engineering, and virtualization/acceleration.
• Experience in large-scale and secure fleet management of servers and components.
• Experience with developer operations, release management, integration testing, open source development, and experience in Python language.

Platforms falls under the Google Cloud Technical Infrastructure area, and we provide the infrastructure that makes Google run, including designing and building the software, hardware, computing platforms, and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services.

In this role, you will help us build the storage systems with the latest technologies for high performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and manageability.

Platforms Storage teams design and build storage solutions for all of Google’s services. Everything from Gmail messages to YouTube videos, Web Search indexes, and Google Cloud customers’ data, all ultimately reside securely on storage devices built by Platforms Storage teams.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical and product roadmaps, and influence executive decisions; define and implement the best known practices for multiple teams.
• Lead the programs of system software development for next-generation server and storage systems to adopt the latest technologies of performance, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead the programs of system software development for large-scale system verification, automating diagnostics, system configuration management, and operation metrics collection.
• Mentor the team by modeling high standards, providing guiding feedback, and implementing new practices to improve productivity.
• Contribute innovative ideas and skills to the team.
