Minimum qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Radio Frequency, or Electromagnetism, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in designing RF solutions for consumer electronics.
• Experience in wireless communication systems (e.g., 5G NR/LTE/UMTS/GSM/GNSS, 802.11, Bluetooth).
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in RF design in consumer products, and RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol and signaling testers, and/or antenna chambers.
• Experience in RF design, board-level, firmware debug skills, and familiarity with schematic creation and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FCC, IC, CE, etc.), carrier specifications, 3GPP, 3GPP2, and their respective certification process.
• Familiarity with simulation tools and/or circuit simulation capability such as Advanced Design System (ADS), scripting and automation tools for data collection/analysis.
  
  

About The Job

Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can’t just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we’ve got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

With your technical expertise, you lead projects in multiple areas of expertise (i.e., engineering domains or systems) within a data center facility, including construction and equipment installation/troubleshooting/debugging with vendors.

As a Radio Frequency (RF) Hardware Engineer, you will be part of a design team building consumer electronics products in emerging areas. You will have involvement at the product concept through to mass production. You will be involved in cross-functional team engagement, and define the overall product architecture to achieve best RF performance.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture, specification, design, and test boards for innovative consumer electronics devices.
• Design and optimize RF system solutions, including cellular technologies 5G, LTE, UMTS, CDMA, GSM, WLAN, Bluetooth, and/or GPS.
• Design for volume manufacturing and support factory engineers from prototyping to product launch.
• Manage Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design for optimal RF performance.
• Work with component vendors and partners to develop the RF frontend.
