Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years industry experience in consumer hardware.
• Experience in electrical engineer circuit and layout design, and system validation.
• Experience with standard audio measurement tools (e.g., SoundCheck, Audio Precision, Oscilloscopes and Adobe Audition).
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with MATLAB or Python to develop automated test tools for objective audio testing.
• Knowledge of using an audio amplifier (e.g., speaker smart amp or ClassG/H amp), audio codec, and audio DSP (i.e. voice processor).
• Knowledge of speaker components and microphones, acoustics architecture, and playback/recording tuning.
• Knowledge of audio analysis software, Adobe Audition, and familiarity with audio DSP algorithms (e.g., Digital filter, MBDRC, etc.), and soundcheck.
• Familiarity with FPGA, DSP/ARM hardware Architecture, DC/DC converter topology and battery gas gauge theory.

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

With your technical expertise, you lead projects in multiple areas of expertise (i.e., engineering domains or systems) within a data center facility, including construction and equipment installation/troubleshooting/debugging with vendors.

In this role, you will perform voice and speech algorithm studies and characterization in smart phone products. You’ll conduct studies into the relationship between physical acoustics and algorithms. You will integrate and develop the audio signal chain to obtain excellent telephony call experiences. You’ll work with internal and third-party algorithm teams to formulate signal chain validation methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design audio hardware subsystem (e.g., analog and digital audio circuit design to meet section requirements) and participate in system design reviews and debug with teams.
• Validate audio system to ensure performance and manage the issue debug and worst cases analysis (e.g., audio and system integration problems).
• Set factory test requirements, assist in software bring up, travel on-site to the manufacturer, and ensure the design is built and tested successfully.
• Join the new audio solution and new feature evaluation (e.g., amplifier, ultrasound feature, etc.).
• Propose new audio features for the phone to make the product more user friendly and more competitive in the market.
