About The Job

At Google, our philosophy is build it, break it and then rebuild it better. That thinking is at the core of how we approach testing at Google. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren’t manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google’s massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You’ll have a huge impact on the quality of Google’s growing suite of products and services.

You use your knowledge of testing and testability to influence better software design, promote proper engineering practice, bug prevention strategies, testability, accessibility, privacy, and other advanced quality concepts across products.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with RF Desense Engineers, Modem engineers, Validation System architects, Module Software engineers, Antenna engineers, Android developers, Factory Test engineers, and chipset vendors to define test features, test plans, test commands, and develop test apps or automation.

You will develop and verify factory and lab test tools, driving verification and correlation tests, dry-runs for factory builds, bug tracking, log analysis, and troubleshooting. You will review results/logs and communicate with the Desense team and vendors to ensure the best quality of the product is achieved.

Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Hardware team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make our user’s interaction with computing faster, more powerful, and seamless. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, our Hardware team is making people’s lives better through technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define RF test validation scenarios, features, and/or algorithms. Work with the modem team, Antenna team, RF team, module team, certification team, and vendors to develop and verify RF Desense Software tools for lab Failure Analysis and factory validation.
  • Design and automate RF test system. Optimize test methodology, accuracy, and speed.
  • Drive data/log analysis, track bugs, and solve issues for lab test and factory test.
  • Deploy factory test systems, drive factory build dry-run, and support software debugging throughout the build.
  • Develop test methodology, data post-processing, and tools for new technologies.
