Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in system-level power or system/SoC/chip architecture or low power design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with mobile phone hardware subsystems including applications processor, cellular modem, graphics, multimedia, display, memory, Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with mobile phone workloads in one or more areas such as multimedia processing, camera pipeline, render and display processing, cellular modem/Wi-Fi processing.
  • Experience with power measurement tools such as Monsoon, digital multimeter.
  • Experience with Android tools such as adb, Systrace, Git.
  • Understanding of mobile devices, including hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

About The Job

In this role, you will collaborate with engineers from all across Google to design and execute on power and battery life goals for the next generation of Pixel phones. You will drive end-to-end power deliverables across the entire product life-cycle including setting power goals, performing power estimates, implementing power optimizations, performing power measurements and debugging battery drain issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional hardware, software and systems teams to define and develop system-level power models and estimates for the entire platform.
  • Define and develop detailed use case flows and workload models for various usage scenarios and perform power/performance trade-off analysis and optimizations.
  • Define, develop and utilize tools, scripts and tests for debugging battery drain issues, system profiling, power measurements, model validation and power consumption analysis.
  • Propose and drive implementation of innovative new power optimization features across hardware and software.
  • Define and develop techniques for in-field battery life monitoring and analysis.
