Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in sensor silicon manufacturing process, supplier quality, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in problem solving for silicon technical issues.
• Experience in the following technology or devices: MEMs (Micro-electromechanical systems), IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), Proximity, Barometer, Motion Sensor, etc.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of common Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) processes, silicon foundry, packaging and testing.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team player in a globally distributed team.
• Ability to actively participate in complex technical discussions in either English or Mandarin.
• Ability to influence the product design process by proposing Design For Excellence (DFX) improvements with associated data.
• Demonstrated record of yield improvements and problem solving skills for high-volume, high-complexity parts with close loop solutions.
• Ability to travel internationally or domestically around 20% of the time.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for manufacturing highly custom/discrete sensors for all Google consumer products. Drive cross-functional activities in supply chain for overall technical operational readiness in all New Product Introduction(NPI) phases leading into mass production.
• Drive silicon component technical and operational issues with regards to material, process, fixtures and equipment during NPI phase to enable delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process into mass production.
• Utilize DOE’s, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other industry standard tools to identify and address risks and optimize process parameters.
• Establish quality programs and process controls for early detection of issues and to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability is consistently delivered.
• Work with supply chain management, cross functional teams for new supplier selection and supplier qualification including technical, quality review, and on-site audit.
