Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in enabling the transition of new products into high-volume production and with mechanical manufacturing processes (e.g., SUS/Al, CNC, PVD, Ano, MIM, stamping, etc.).
  • Experience with statistical process control(CPK)/ GD&T/TA analysis.
  • Experience with DFx, fixture design, and qualification.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience of architecture developing process in consumer electrics industry.
  • Understand quality standards including cosmetic/color/dimension.
  • Ability to proactively influence the CMF, ID, and product design process by proposing DFx improvements with associated data.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as a team player in a globally distributed team. Demonstrated sense of ownership, detail oriented, and organized.

About The Job

Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Design, Industrial Design, Project Management, Reliability, and Product Operations to deliver Google Hardware products to market.
  • Engage early with our Design teams to provide detailed and critical DFM/DFx reviews of mechanical parts and make recommendations to improve manufacturing processes for quality, yield, and cost.
  • Use statistical process control and yield studies to validate process capability (Cp/Cpk), establish reasonable specifications with PD/ID, and drive process improvements in partnership with a cross-functional team.
  • Work with Reliability Engineering to set up on-going Reliability test plans for manufacturing processes that are critical to function and fix the issue.
  • Be the first level go­-to person for identifying suitable manufacturing processes. Identify and highlight manufacturability issues during engineering builds to ensure product quality and supply during ramp.
