Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in cross-functional management developing consumer electronics, or shipping products in consumer electronics or other devices.
  • Experience in Product Quality Control Systems, quality compliance matrix, quality governance, quality statistical methods, and cosmetic criteria.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical design and/or electronics schematics or design quality review with a functional Engineering team.
  • Solid Knowledge of consumer hardware development and manufacturing processes, vendor relations and working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • Understanding of technology, at the system and commodity level as well as software and usability.
  • Excellent communication skills.

About The Job

As a Technical Program Manager, you will work closely with hardware and Software Engineers, Product Managers, Contract Manufacturers, Original Device Manufacturer (ODM), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to get high-quality products built, tested, and released on time. You will coordinate many fast-changing, moving parts and get them to come together as a product. Additionally, you will contribute excellent communication skills and answer questions about schedules, quality, and progress updates. You will be responsible for identifying and managing risks, making sound judgments about quality, and stopping, or speeding up production at the right time. The Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams on quality initiatives, take on ambiguity, build consensus, be an outstanding written and verbal communicator, and influence at all levels of the company.
  • Develop and manage hardware development project schedules with Engineering teams and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Identify dependencies and collaborate with a cross-functional teams to execute, mitigate risks and issues, and meet system build milestones, cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution among a cross-functional teams of Engineers.
  • Understand detailed implications of decisions and recommendations and be able to communicate recommended solutions to the Product Development team, all the way up through the executive leadership of the company.
