General Summary
Interfaces with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing. Communicates product specifications to suppliers and assesses supplier’s ability to meet engineering and quality requirements. Provides feedback on the functioning of supplier operation. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards to ensure compliance to quality requirements. Monitors devices from procurement through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices and quality standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 9+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
- 2+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports. (applies only to positions with direct reports)
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance (e.g., quality analysis, audit, failure analysis) experience in semiconductor foundry and/or SAT industry or related work experience.
- 4+ years of experience with data mining in statistical software such as MS Office, 8D, SPC, FMEA etc.
- 4+ years of experience with quality metrics such as DPPM, yield, KPIs, etc.
- 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).
- 4+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
- 4+ years of experience with project management including managing schedules, identifying and mitigating risk, etc.
- 2+ years of working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
- 1+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Oversees root cause analysis across various teams to create preventative actions and coordinates across functional groups. Presents findings and reports analysis components and corrective action to executive leaders.
- Provides critical leadership in ensuring that analyses (i.e., failure mode effects analyses, physical failure analyses, duplication studies) of the most high-stakes supplier issues are appropriately resolved and that customers are satisfied with solutions. Creates long-term plans to mitigate the impact of future issues.
- Oversees cross-team efforts to create strategies related to supplier KPIs to ensure Qualcomm strategic alignment and the best interest of the customer.
- Oversees cross-team efforts to maintain supplier quality and manufacturing for the production of new products of considerable strategic importance to ensure they are driven to completion with high quality.
- Identifies risks to process roadmaps and drives mitigation plans; proposes solutions.
- Oversees the audit planning process (i.e., quality audit, new product audit, quality issue audit) and maintains successful relationships with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement.
- Acts as final authority on required action resulting from audit findings to ensure all action is executed and reports on the progress of supplier action to senior level executives.
- Anticipates and prioritizes customer inquiries and ensures that the team has resources needed to provide timely and accurate answers.
- Develops new quality policies and methods to drive strategic quality improvement across multiple suppliers, technologies, and cross-functional teams; aligns these with organizational level goals and influences across departments.
- Working independently with no supervision.
- Making decisions that are significant in impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.
- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
- Responsible to ensure budgets, schedules, and performance standards for functional areas and organization are realistically set and attained. Erroneous decisions, failure to achieve objectives results in significant long-term impact on the company’s overall success.
- Having a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that have substantial impact on the organization).
- Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.
- Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.
- Working on abstract problems in variable situations that typically require complex analysis, interpretation, or evaluation of intangible factors. Directs the resolution of complex problems that have impact beyond own area. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
- Develops, redesigns organizational strategies and provides overall direction for various functional areas and/or entire organization. Has influence over the formulation and achievement of long-term business plans and objectives.
