1. Has overall responsibility for the commercial department including the commercial sections and staff working at the company’s various job/project locations. The commercial department encompasses both the commercial and QS functions and staff.

2. Strategises, formulates, regulates and oversees all commercial activities for the company viz commercial transactions, documentation, policies, procedures and processes.

3. Manages suppliers’/contractors’ relationship, contract negotiation, contract agreements, contract award and tender procedures.

4. Ensures that there are sufficient internal control measures, and check and balances in place with regards to terms and conditions, purchase orders, variation orders, negotiation procedures with suppliers/contractors and approval of documents.

5. Assists, supports and liaises very closely with the PMs in the day to day execution of the projects eg initiating purchases and acquisition of materials and services, co-ordinating their deliveries, managing variation orders, providing cost effectiveness advices to PMs, etc

6. Exercises control over the processing and verification of suppliers’/contractors’ claims for progressive payments ensuring that they have been properly processed in accordance to the terms and conditions of the contracts and our internal control procedures before recommending payment to the Finance department.

7.Advises on the tax issues and implications on commercial transactions that might have an impact on the budget and profitability of the projects.

8. Implements, maintains and controls an effective system for project closing ensuring that all documentation, back-charges and close-out procedures are closely adhered, monitored and executed.

9. Standardises, implements, maintains and ensures consistency in the various commercial practices eg tender procedures, terms and conditions of contracts and commercial documentation.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.

Significant commercial experience.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Experienced in high-tech and FAB projects experience.
