Main Purpose:

To lead the PE & NPI team on prototypes, pilot runs, and plant transfer including management of all production engineering, encompassing capital and process development projects, whilst also providing superior technical knowledge. The role is responsible for providing leadership and management to a team of NPI & Process Engineers, with the successful candidate holding full budgetary responsibility for the department. This position also includes implementation and management of continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead NPI & PE team to make sure appropriate quality and design plans are created that include all stages of the life cycle of the product.
• Drive the value of NPI & PE to the business by assuring that facilities, capabilities and processes are well aligned with key business objectives.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of the best practice production engineering, planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve manufacturing performance.
• Design, prove, implement, and maintain production systems to deliver product on time, to quality requirements and to cost.
• Drive functional excellence of the production engineering team.
• Lead continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste.
• Identify and justify capital equipment investment and calculate the ROI.
• Analyze and improve material usage.
• Analyze downtime, identify trends and develop solutions.
• Ensure accuracy of Production Engineering procedures and documentation.
• Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
• Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
• Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
• Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• At least 10+ years’ related work experience and 5+ years in management position
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good English and Chinese communication skills.
• Self-supervising within the expectations of Senior Management.
• Problem solver
• Experience with New Product Introduction, standard time setup and line balancing optimization.
• High responsibility / accountability for Dept. KPI management and and win-win mentality.
