• Experience in the development of manufacturing test hardware using custom electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with scripting languages, particularly in Python.
• Experience in working test development with CM, ODM, or JDM partners.
• Experience developing Manufacturing Test Solutions for complex computing, storage and networking products.
• Ability to generate product-specific test strategy, plans, and executing testing accordingly.
• Ability to navigate and influence cross-team stakeholders at senior levels.
  
  

About The Job

Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Through your leadership, you leverage your technical expertise to design and analyze products and related data, develop and improve manufacturing and supportive processes, and provide consultation to vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams. You lead complex projects to completion by managing resources and activities along the way.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a team responsible for performing the Manufacturing Test Engineering function for Google’s Platform products. Define team strategy and road map, and drive adoption cross-functionally. Assess and manage team performance through regular staff meetings, one on ones and quarterly assessments.
• Lead cross-functional product test discussions at product development team or execution level.
• Develop per-product end-to-end process design, manufacturing test methodology or strategy, test plan creation/ownership and/or technical program management of test development.
• Develop and oversee automated test scripts for functional tests, software installation and burn-in using Python. Design, build and deploy test platforms for Google’s global manufacturing partners.
• Analyze, troubleshoot and root cause manufacturing yield issues and field escapes. Drive issues to closure with preventive measures.
