Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in Printed Circuit Board Assembly and/or System Integration/High Level Assembly processes.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing or new product process development in Surface Mount Technology, final assembly, or system integration.
  • Experience in Printed Circuit Board Assembly and/or System Integration/High Level Assembly processes, design for Manufacturability, and Failure Mode Effect Analysis.
  • Experience in working with Contract Manufacturers and suppliers to manage root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvements.
  • Experience with setting up Statistical Process Control and process capability index (CP, CPK) monitoring.
  • Experience with manufacturing inspection, testing procedures, and practices.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide the Engineering team members in the area of responsibility with a high level of integrity, efficiency, and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors.
  • Coach and mentor the assigned Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
  • Identify and manage Design for Manufacturability and process improvements while maintaining exceptional quality levels.
  • Design experiments, manage control builds, first article inspection, and ensure that the assembly processes are maintained/improved through the various change management activities, provide on-site support for sustaining activities
