Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishment and Strategy Development: Spearhead the establishment of the IRM function, defining its structure, processes, and strategies. Develop a global strategy that encompasses operational, financial, strategic, reputational, regulatory, interest rate, and foreign exchange risks, with a specific focus on the company’s expansion in Europe, particularly France. Collaborate with the Group Treasurer to ensure alignment between risk management strategy and overall financial and treasury strategies.
  • Immediate Insurance Procurement: Conduct a swift and thorough risk assessment to identify imminent insurance needs, particularly for the European expansion. Lead the procurement and administration of immediate insurance programs, ensuring optimal coverage at cost-effective rates.
  • Insurance Management: Manage relationships with insurers, brokers, and other external parties for ongoing and future insurance requirements. Ensure insurance strategies are tailored to the regulatory and market conditions of each region, especially in France.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Systematically identify, assess, and prioritize risks across all geographies, with a special focus on European markets. Develop and implement risk mitigation and transfer strategies.
  • Financial Risk Management: Evaluate the company’s exposure to interest rate and foreign exchange risks, with attention to European markets. Develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate financial risks.
  • European Expansion Oversight: Oversee and manage all aspects of risk management for the company’s expansion in Europe, ensuring all insurance and risk management needs are comprehensively addressed.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements related to insurance and risk management, with a focus on European regulations. Develop and present regular reports on risk exposures, insurance coverages, and mitigation strategies to the Group Treasurer and other stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various departments to integrate risk management practices into their strategies and operations. Educate and advise stakeholders on risk-related matters, promoting a risk-aware culture.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for the department, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for the company.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of risk management professionals. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or related field. Professional certifications such as ARM, CRM, CFA, or FRM are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance and risk management, with a proven track record in establishing and leading similar functions and managing regional expansions.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficient in risk assessment, immediate insurance procurement, and comprehensive risk management. Familiarity with European, particularly French, insurance and regulatory landscape is an advantage.
  • Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities. Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proactive, with an ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.
