- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience using SQL and one or more languages for scripting or statistical programming (e.g., R, SAS, Python).
- Experience in statistical analysis on complex systems or problems.
- Experience using BigQuery.
- Knowledge of Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), Degradation Analysis, Reliability Block Diagram, Design of Experiments, and Bayesian methods.

The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you’re sure it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability.

Responsibilities
- Manage fleet hardware reliability data, identify prognostic monitoring metrics and effectively apply proper statistical methodologies. Collaborate with the team to advance the early warning mechanism and support the predictions for spare parts planning.
- Identify critical failure modes to influence and enable design and de-risk the product at an early stage of development. Extract root causes from symptoms, create actionable insights from manufacturing test and Failure Analysis (FA) data.
- Participate in the hardware design and development processes, collaborate with the team to apply proper reliability problem solving methodologies and provide risk assessments to enable the product design robustness.
- Define and drive reliability test plans to enable evaluation, implementation, and verification of design reliability.
- Maintain relationships with outside testing labs and internal groups, and Contract Manufacturer (CM) partners, while developing in-house test and qualification capabilities.
