About The Job

As the Firmware Engineer on the IMS/Modem protocol stack team, you will develop, integrate and improve IMS/Modem features on Android devices. You will work closely with Android Telephony/RIL teams, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and vendors to deliver the most efficient software on Pixel products. To drive the best solution for IMS/Modem features, you’ll also be required to validate features with test equipment in the laboratory, such as Anritsu MD8475B/MT8000, R&S CMW500, Keysight UXM, and program the test scenarios to auto-testing scripts for regression test. During the development process, you will be the point of contact to analyze protocol issues, figure out the root cause and come up with the best solution. In this team, you’ll not only have the opportunity to expand your domain knowledge vertically (IMS/NAS/AS) and understand the modem more deeply from the viewpoint of the system, but also be encouraged to propose your innovative and practical ideas to optimize Pixel products.

Making the world’s information universally accessible and useful doesn’t stop at the desktop. The Mobile team builds tools to get you the information you need no matter where you are. Android has become the world’s most popular mobile ecosystem, powering billions of devices, from smartphones to tablets, watches to TVs and everything in between. Whether adding to the core Android experience, forging new markets for digital content, creating immersive and portable versions of our products or managing relationships with a global community of developers, the Mobile team is giving you Google on the go.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and fix the IMS/Modem protocol issues from the testing team, certification lab and customers.
  • Innovate and develop IMS/Modem feature improvement with Android software stack.
  • Develop and validate IMS/Modem auto-testing scripts to enhance the test coverage.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to innovate new features to improve Pixel software quality.
