Primary Job Function
A Reynoldsburg City SchoolsDirector of Secondary Educationcollaborates with other district administrators in providing strategic direction and implementing systemic improvement in school improvement initiatives, as well as the professional development of principals, assistant principals and professional staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Five years’ experience as a building principal or district administrator
- Valid Ohio Principal’s license
- Valid Ohio teaching certificate
- Experience with eTPES/OTES/OPES
- Experience with evaluating and supervising principals
- Evidence of improving academic outcomes and culture and climate as a principal or district leader
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Knowledge of CTE programming, qualifications and requirements
Leadership
- Responsible for modeling effective leadership practices, and making data informed decisions
- Supervision and evaluation of principals and assistant principals
- Responsible for providing direct support to principals by observing instruction, in school leadership/faculty meetings, and daily school activities
- Will partner with the principal to identify specific areas to add capacity by taking on leadership responsibilities
- Responsible for serving as a supervisor for the junior high and high school principals and assistant principals
- Responsible for the planning, implementation of systems and procedures for cohesive processes and continuous school improvements
- Responsible for supporting instructional leadership by collaborating with principals, and various district departments and to ensure rigorous and engaging instruction is occurring for all learners
- Responsible for making staff and scheduling recommendations to the superintendent or assistant superintendent
- Approaches challenges from an asset management perspective
- Support building implementation of programs and services to meet the needs of students
- Will assist with the teacher and leader recruitment, development, and retention efforts to ensure that highly effective teachers and leaders are serving students
- Responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of:
- Assessment systems
- Seals
- Capstone
- Pre-apprenticeship
- Naviance
- CTE, CCP, and HS Pathways
- GEAR Up and future grants
- Other CRR Initiatives as assigned
- Oversight responsibilities for:
- NCAA Clearinghouse
- Post-Secondary partnerships
- Grants related to Pathways work
- Global scholars
- EOS outreach plans
- Career Center partnerships
- Secondary scheduling and staffing
- Responsible for other duties assigned by Superintendent or designee
- Responsible for fostering a reflective, collaborative, and inspiring culture for students, families, staff members and community partners that values innovation, accountability and performance
- Responsible for creating an environment that fosters social justice, equity, and supports the needs of all students
- Establish programs and activities designed to foster positive relationships among students and between students and staff
- Responsible for managing a school focused on driving excellence, executing with urgency, and realizing significant and meaningful achievement for all students
- Meet with parent school councils and other school support groups
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage and support community and parent engagement
- Responsible for articulating the district’s mission and vision to the community and soliciting its support in realizing district and school goals
- Serve as an ambassador for Reynoldsburg City Schools
- Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing high quality professional learning
- Knowledgeable of current educational trends and research regarding effective educational leadership practices
- Knowledge of the Ohio Department Education and Workforce policies
- Knowledge of the Ohio Improvement Process
- Skilled in cultural proficiency and culturally relevant instructional practices.
- Skilled in effective listening and communication
- Skills in organization, time management, task prioritization and recordkeeping
- Able to make fiscally responsible decisions and allocate resources equitably
- Skills in verbal and written communications
- Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with others
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines successfully
- Ability to handle adversity in an objective manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences using multiple mediums
- Ability to manage competing demands and determine top priorities
- Ability to work well under pressure and use sound judgment, including appropriate handling of confidential matters
- Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion
- Working Conditions – The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children
- Driving Requirement – This position may require driving
- Occasionally required to work late hours or on weekends
