About The Job

Google’s projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You’re equally at home explaining your team’s analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Program Manager, you’ll work closely with hardware and software engineers, and contract managers (CM), original design manufacturers, and original equipment manufacturers to get high-quality products built, tested, and released on time. You’ll coordinate many fast-changing, moving parts and get them to come together as a product. You will answer all questions about schedules, quality, and progress updates.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing established processes, and manage production tasks, with minimal guidance from higher level program managers, engineering, or product leads.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development, and build execution for carrier certification units. Develop, maintain, and communicate key focus points and next steps with engineering, vendors, operations, quality, and management.
  • Support management of engineering prototype development builds on-site at CM location, while meeting schedule, cost, features, and quality requirements. Partner closely with the engineering teams (e.g., RF, Desense, ANT, Carrier) to ensure all carrier devices are thoroughly tested in the lab and carrier test specs are met.
  • Support device logistics between Wireless teams, Carrier labs, and third-party vendors. Work closely with manufacturing partners and vendors in manufacturing environments on product development schedules, dependencies, and budgets.
  • Understand Wireless components (e.g., RF Cables, RF/over the air update (OTA) Test equipment).
  • Synthesize large amounts of data into a clear story and communicate to stakeholders and organizations at all levels.
