About The Job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google’s bottom line.

As a Program Manager in Custom Silicon Operations, you will be part of the supply chain team managing the product lifecycle from new product introduction to end-of-life. You will work with suppliers, Global Commodities Managers, and Engineering teams to manage the product availability, secure capacity, facilitate logistics, and ensure the entire manufacturing flow is in order. You will work with several cross-functional teams such as Global Capacity Delivery, Silicon Engineering, Platform, and external first and second tier suppliers.

Travel to supplier sites for on-site audits and validation jobs will be required as needed. Suppliers are located in China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. Travel to contract manufacturer sites will also be required during final assembly, test, and pack.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire inventory of ASICs end-to-end, from concept and new product introduction, to end-of-life. Own capacity discussions, forecasting roll up, production plans, and material releases.
  • Order manufacturing components and oversee lot traceability and inventory management.
  • Manage vendor operations and logistics for drop shipments, customs, and import/export requirements. Manage approved vendor list (AVL) and supplier onboarding.
  • Generate part numbers, bill of materials, and purchase orders, invoice for chip orders or any required components, and manage consigned material transactions.
  • Work with different cross-functional teams to establish second sourcing for manufacturing nodes.
