Position: Professor, Director of Research Center

Department: School of Computing, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

Location: Tainan City, South of Taiwan

Our client is National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), one of the top universities in Taiwan. Its School of Computing is an interdisciplinary school that combines computing science, AI, data science, and related engineering disciplines. It aims to promote the various computing capabilities and implementation of interdisciplinary applications through the school mechanisms and the innovative talent cultivation program.

The school has plans to build more research centers in the following few years. The Director (and/or Associate Dean of International Outreach) will be responsible for the management of the research center’s budget and finances, academic personnel actions, staff hiring, teaching and assignments of faculty and the program needs of the academic programs; provides leadership and vision for faculty and staff initiatives.

Key Qualification And Selection Criteria For This Position
  • Ph.D. in the areas of Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, or other related studies
  • Demonstrated capacity of advanced research in the domains of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics & Automation, Computer Vision, Data Science, Deep Learning/ Machine Learning, Intelligent Biotechnology and Medicine, or other advanced computing technologies;
  • Experience of establishing and leading a strong research program (USD$1.0+ Million funding per year) in computing-centric, cross-disciplinary fields;
  • Able to link the school to external resources of industry, academia and research, and provides a comprehensive and application-oriented environment;
  • Independent, creative, open and ambitious minds that agree and can contribute to the vision of the school: to establish a world-leading school in computing science, technology, and applications that fulfill social needs; to cultivate innovative, bilingual talents with both domain-specific and computing expertise, capable of conducting requirements analysis and system design in certain application domains.
