Purpose Of The Position

Job is with Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MT&E) corporate engineering directorate based in Asia to support all Corning Incorporated manufacturing plants in Asia-Pacific regions. Project assignments may involve extensive travel of up to 75% to Taiwan, China, S. Korea and USA. Building strong technical linkage with MTE core technology groups in USA / Division and visiting vendors responsible for building manufacturing process equipment/systems for Corning Incorporated.

Project Involved With

Project focus will be the implementation of robust, cost effective automation and process equipment systems in Corning’s manufacturing plants and will require collaboration with manufacturing, control system, process engineering, and other related organizations.

Day To Day Responsibilities
  • Able to work independently to develop process equipment design concepts and detail mechanisms in response to manufacturing issues/problems.
  • Able to apply engineering analysis competency to deliver robust, cost effective solutions for fixture design, process equipment development, new operation and process improvement projects to Corning’s manufacturing facilities.
  • Direct and interface with vendors in the construction of prototype and production equipment. Proactively participate equipment design review, check-out, installation, debug, production start-up. Deliver integrated equipment to internal customers on-time, on-budget, and in satisfaction of process performance measures.
  • Communicate proposals and project status clearly and professionally through graphic, written media, and oral presentations.
Education & Experience
  • BS or above degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of working experience with mechanical design and equipment construction is a must.
  • Project experience on process equipment development or manufacturing is a plus.
Required Skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks software.
  • Detail oriented and able to perform with limited supervision.
  • Effective, high quality oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner.
  • Excellent computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office).
  • Customer oriented; meets customer needs with quality results.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
