Amphenol LTW (ALTW) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer specializing in electrical and electronic connectors to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities:

  • Main role is to design and develop electrical and electronic connectors for various applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements; and, design connector peripherals and accessories as secondary role.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technical specifications to determine connector performance and compatibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, sourcing engineers, product managers and sales/field representatives, to define connector requirements and specifications.
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed designs and 3D models of connectors, considering factors such as size, shape, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform mechanical and structural analysis, including tolerance analysis, stress analysis, and thermal analysis, to validate connector designs and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Prototype, test, and validate connector designs using appropriate testing methods and equipment, ensuring compliance with performance and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production, addressing any design or manufacturing challenges that may arise.
  • Interact with customers/client directly to discuss technical issues though teleconferencing, phone call, emails and other communication means, if necessary.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in connector design and manufacturing techniques.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and development of electrical and electronic connectors.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as Creo or AutoCAD, for 3D modeling and design documentation.
  • Proficiency in productivity tools, such as MS office is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience in conducting mechanical and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to connector design and performance such as UL, IEC, Intertek.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Intermediate level of English and Chinese language preferred.
