To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Manufacturing Engineering (CHME) teamis instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will define Mfg test methodologies to support the verification of product functionality following the assembly process of PCBAs, storage enclosures, and racked assemblies within the ODM & Contract Manufacturer sites.
• Develop and sustain test hardware & software. Found a robust Mfg test framework to ensure product quality by driving highest test coverage with your expertise.
• Work with customers and component vendors to determine best test methodologies for current or upcoming new technology in server industry.
• Provide expert judgement on Mfg test readiness before every build start, including test hardware, software, or firmware perspective. Come out the risk assessment and mitigation with timely manner to internal/external partners.
• Drive test optimization to increase manufacturing throughput and reduce the cost without compromising product quality level.
• Develop core test content/script and deploy the test solutions in support of PCBA product manufacturing. Able to read/write test script or source code comfortably or even onsite debugging agilely.
• Follow Mfg Test Engineering team preferred framework and process to release and maintain our core test content/script. A comprehensive validation or regression test is expected prior for the release.
• Work on root cause remediation with regards to systemic hardware and firmware issues found during manufacturing test.
• Able to take on difficult challenges and communicate across organizational boundaries.
• Interface with internal reliability and qualification teams to drive parity between test coverage from reliability and qualification to manufacturing.
• Monitor production yield data regularly to deep dive test related issues with a systematic approach for resolution or improvement. Meanwhile, implementing continuous test enhancements against quality. Constantly shift left by tensive Mfg test knowledge, especially for PCBA level test.
• Realize CM/ODM capacity and capability constraints against forecast; Collaborate across each functional team to ensure continuity of supply.
• Develop and maintain documentations on process or procedures within MTE team and with its internal/ external partners.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
• 5+ years of work experience in enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems. Experience with server products is a plus.
• 3+ years’ experience in Functional Test technical manufacturing facilities or at contract manufacturing site with high-volume production as a Mfg Test Engineer.
• Proficient in Python scripting programming. 3+ years’ experience is preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in diagnostic tool or utility development with electronical devices.
• Exposure to all phases of FPGA product development (concept, design, implementation, test, and production)
• Familiar with Linux operating system. Able to read/write script or issue commands upon Linux.
• Strong capability in troubleshooting with engineering team on manufacturing related issues with test systems and storage enclosure products.
• Working knowledge of computer subsystems, component interfaces, add-on boards, electronic test equipment.
• Understanding of the complete design and manufacturing process at the PCBA and enclosure level with experience developing business (cost/ tradeoff) analyses.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across a range of technical disciplines.
• Knowledgeable about SW development flow and proficient on any kinds of source code control tool is a plus.
• Proficient in all MS Office applications. Familiar with Azure DevOps Services is a plus.
• Must be willing to travel, domestic & international and to work off hours to support business in Asia.
