• 5 years of experience of manufacturing in sustaining and NPI roles for semiconductor components, sensor, or optical related parts
• Experience in production quality control that are related to semiconductor or consumer hardware production

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with project management including data handling, documentation, and critical decision-making
• Knowledge of semiconductor or LED components related products and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of Quality and Statistical tools and methods (e.g., Cp/CPk, SPI, JEDEC, etc.)
• Excellent technical and problem-solving skills to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent leadership, project management, teamwork, influencing, and negotiation skills

About The Job

Google’s custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional activities in supply chain for overall technical operational readiness in all new product indicator (NPI) phases leading into mass production.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams in assessing process technologies based on project requirements and propose/develop manufacturing blueprints including process flow, equipment/ fixture designs, implementation schedules, or validation plans.
• Drive project technical/operational issues of material, process, fixtures, equipment etc. during NPI phase to enable delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process into Mass Production. Drive continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts.
• Lead suppliers by providing technical direction to establish and validate (utilizing statistical tools) process capability during the NPI phase for consistently delivering quality products.
• Engage with cross-functional product teams early on detecting and resolving technical issues and highlighting quality risks to core teams and management.
