As AWS enjoys its ongoing rapid expansion, we are making investments in the Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement (ISCAP) team to optimize the value chain of technology ecosystem suppliers from whom we acquire good and services to run our cloud solutions. The AWS ISCaP team is responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and supply fulfilment to deploy customer capacity to AWS’s Data Center network. We are seeking an electrical electronic commodity manager (Capacitors, Inductors, Resistors, etc..) responsible for; predicting component market dynamics, driving component supplier technology roadmaps aligned to AWS product innovation, and executing component sourcing strategies that ensure supplier manufacturing capacity and supply output satisfies AWS growing materials demand requirements. Those components are used across a range of AWS market verticals including, but not limited to - Server motherboard, Network communications switches, host bus adapters, Network interface cards, solid state drives, IoT devices, and Power supply subsystems.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned commodity management professional with a demonstrated record of high performing technology sourcing experts, cultivating influential C-level (CEO/CPO….) vendor relationships, harnessing passives component industry analytics to develop winning sourcing strategies, accelerating throughput velocity by reducing lead-times, and driving vendor output execution to prevent/resolve constraints. You will engage frequently with Architects, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Life Cycle Managers and Internal business unit service customers to understand AWS’s component quality, availability and cost requirements, influence DFX - design for manufacturing/supply chain - direction, and subsequently orchestrate vendor engagement and sourcing strategies to exceed those needs. This role will report directly into ISCaP’s head of Component Sourcing Manager and is located out of Taipei. There will be travel required in this role including both domestic and international trips.

Responsibilities Include

• This role as an EE Commodity manager is the primary commercial contact for all Electrical and Electronics commodities for AWSs which includes partnering with Senior Management, NPI Teams, HW Engineering Teams and other critical stakeholders.
• Analyze electrical and electronic industry capacity to predict market constraints and drive sourcing policy counter measures to secure continuity of supply and cost optimization.
• Develop and execute commodity strategies in support of business requirements for AWS Server and Networking hardware.
• Source, Select, Risk Assess/Mitigate, Qualify and On-Board new electrical electronic component suppliers.
• Drive change through excellent verbal and written communication with data driven inputs.
• Communicated management and business partner presentation via white paper narratives.
• Internally, you should be able to articulate sourcing strategies to senior leaders and stakeholders, contribute to supply chain strategy development, and contribute to strategic projects as appropriate.
• You will manage the supplier relationship and supplier performance as the single point of contact for AWS.
• The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with a wide network of stakeholders and seeks challenges to drive continuous and systemic improvements with multiple functional groups.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial Engineering or Business Administration/Supply Chain Operations
• 7+ years of work experience in electrical/electronic Component Engineering, Manufacturing, &/or Technical Procurement.
• Experience managing and negotiating agreements.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA and / or advanced engineering degree.
• 7+ years direct working experience in electrical/electronic component based product development, manufacture, sourcing and supply operations in passive Supplier &/or manufacturer.
• Experience with Surface Mount package technology as related to passive devices in printed circuit board assembly manufacture.
• 10+ years or relevant work of strategic sourcing in high tech electronics / computing / communications fields.
• Strong negotiation skills and passion for electrical/electronic component technology.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing external vendor C-level relationships with multi-million spend accounts.
