Job Description Summary
Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development.

Maxim’s Battery Power Solutions Business Unit is seeking a Power Applications Engineer Manager with expertise in power management applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a team of application engineers evaluating power management devices for smartphone, wireless earbuds, and other popular consumer applications. The team will be responsible for conducting road tests, generating test reports, and providing training to FAEs. In addition, the Power Applications Engineering Manager is responsible for writing applications notes and giving technical support to FAEs and customers. We are looking for someone who can understand the technical problems customers are facing and can provide technical solutions. The Power Applications Engineer Manager works closely with customers, Product Definers, Design Engineering, Business Management, Sales and our Field Applications organization.

Job Description
As part of Maxim’s Battery Power Solutions Business Unit team, you will play a key role in developing products that go into smartphones, wireless headsets, gaming consoles, and other leading edge consumer electronics. Working within a talented team of engineers, this is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about developing leading edge consumer hardware. You will be involved in the complete product life cycle from system concept through to customer device mass production.
Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To
Maxim is seeking an SMTS Power Applications Engineer Manager to support IC products through the full product life cycle. The position is in the group focusing on IC products that include DC/DC power conversion, battery charging, and battery fuel gauging.
- Schematic and layout design of evaluation boards
- Development of automated bench setups
- Conduct road-tests, performance optimization and characterization
- Work closely with product definers, design, business management and customers throughout the product evaluation and optimization
- Provide technical support to key customers and field applications engineers
- Write application notes, user guides, articles, design ideas, datasheet manuscripts for internal/external publication
- Research competitive solutions and devise better ones
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in EE
- 4 years of relevant work experience
- Basic programming skills and experience (experience with Python and C is a plus)
- Experience with power electronics (knowledge in switching regulators and/or battery chargers)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
