• Experience with BIOS, Kernel, BMC.

• Experience in Python/Go and scripting languages (e.g. Shell).

The Platforms Storage team designs and builds storage solutions for all of Google’s services (e.g., Gmail, YouTube, Web Search indexes) and Google Cloud customers’ data reside securely on storage devices built by Platforms Storage teams. Platforms Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) falls within Technical Infrastructure (TI) under Google Cloud. The team provides the infrastructure that makes Google run. PIE engineers design and build the software, hardware, computing platforms and networking technologies that power Google’s services. Google’s computing platforms are an energy and cost-efficient distributed computing infrastructure. The Server Software team is responsible for designing and developing the firmware and software to bring up and run Google’s custom designed Servers and supporting these at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for developing system software for storage devices and servers in Google data centers.
• Drive all aspects of development including requirements definition, design, implementation, integration, test, release, monitoring, and sustaining.
• Discover opportunities for improvements in programs and workflows for better productivity and quality, and help the teams to create and deploy the improvement plans.
• Define a team structure, develop skills, offer mentorship, and recruit new members to cultivate a growth mindset culture and grow the team.
• Act on behalf of the team to influence executive decisions, collaborate with internal and external partners, and define and implement best practices.
