• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with copper cable design techniques and characterization.
• Experience with signal and power integrity design techniques.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with Serializer/Deserializer testing, and product development for mass volume production design.
• Experience with Allegro, MATLAB, PowerDC, PowerSI, PCB, and with passive and active cable development/testing and system-level signal and power integrity design.
• Scripting experience for data collection and analysis (Python, Bash).
• Understanding of transmission lines and electromagnetic theory and high speed design.
• Knowledge of with PCIe, DDR, SATA, and Ethernet standards and with PCB, connector, and/or cable design and assembly process.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

With your technical expertise, you lead projects in multiple areas of expertise (i.e., engineering domains or systems) within a data center facility, including construction and equipment installation/troubleshooting/debugging with vendors.

In this role, you will design and build the systems for computing infrastructure. You will develop circuit design to system design, and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. You will also help shape the machinery that goes into data centers affecting Google users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with board and system engineers and design partners, to drive system Signal Integrity (SI) and cable design, explore design and manufacturability tradeoffs, and ensure that product functions as required.
• Work with Engineering/Qualification teams on cable qualification, system bring up, and design validation.
• Perform system interconnect bring up and qualification (working with Test Engineers), including configuring chips to ensure adequate margin.
• Drive solutions for SI/Cabling issues with Design Engineers, PCB Designers, and System team.
