Job Description

Job Description of T1 Plant Engineer:

Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel in diagnosing, troubleshooting, determining root causes of failures, and eliminating equipment problems. Analyze maintenance and equipment performance data to identify repetitive equipment issues and implement procedures to improve reliability, uptime, and quality product. Evaluate reports of plant engineering and maintenance methods and procedures at other 3M locations and outside industries for possible local application. Participate with Plant Engineering, Engineering, and Production supervision to plan installation and/or modification of production equipment. Develop and maintain plant engineering/maintenance standard operating procedures as required. Review and evaluate production and maintenance requests for equipment modification to assure changes are consistent with acceptable engineering principles and practices. Evaluate equipment and maintenance history to determine, develop, and implement appropriate preventive maintenance requirements and/or recommend predictive maintenance programs for optimizing effectiveness of maintenance procedures and maximizing equipment reliability and runtime. Maintain effective cost and schedule controls and prepare progress reports on assigned projects. Additional accountabilities as assigned by Plant Engineering Manager.
