Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with SMT and box build manufacturing processes.
• Experience using tools such as Valor/Allegro to perform DFx, and with production line setup, transfer, and qualification.
• Experience with development of PCBA manufacturing processes including acceptance testing, startup, and qualification.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5 years of experience with Product Data Management (PDM) tools (e.g., SAP, Agile, Windchill).
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  
  

About The Job

Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure. In this role, you will join the team responsible for new and innovative manufacturing technology and processes enabling New Product Introduction (NPI). You will develop, qualify, and scale-up new manufacturing processes in collaboration with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and Joint Development Manufacturers (JDM). You will identify Design for Manufacturability (DFM) opportunities, and support delivery of high quality products and fulfillment chains.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of innovative manufacturing processes, solutions, and capabilities including industry first process definition, startup, and qualification.
• Develop manufacturing documentation (e.g., Bill of Materials, Assembly Drawings, Manufacturing Work Instructions, etc.) in support of New Product Introduction.
• Establish, deliver, and maintain the manufacturing quality processes and standards for Google’s new technologies, leveraging existing tools and processes as required.
• Collaborate with design and cross-functional engineering teams throughout NPI phases to identify value engineering opportunities.
• Work with manufacturing partners in build readiness process validation, and solve design and manufacturing challenges to meet project timing and ensure NPI launch.
