Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope Of Position

The Molding Engineering Supervisor is responsible for directing, coaching, and mentoring a group of mold development engineers within Mold Engineering team. This leadership position will manage mold engineering talent supporting associated product teams, corporate business directives and production objectives. This position is a working supervisor position with both management responsibility for mold design and project engineers and running projects as required with the focus inside the Taiwan facility, global activity is possible.

Major Roles And Responsibilities

• Direct Mold Design Engineers and Project Engineers activity in support of mold fabrication and improvement projects. Conduct annual PD&R with each individual direct report
• Run improvement projects and work closely with the Taipei mold fabrication team
• Support deployment of new process technologies and improvement of operational methods within the mold fabrication facility that reduce manufacturing cost, increase efficiency, and improves capability. Identify and drive improvement opportunities in the Taipei mold fabrication facility
• Collaborate with project leaders and manage MDE Taiwan DE team to support project timeline and fabrication schedule. Communicate mold project status back to MDE project managers and team
• Ensure the documentation and standard practices are valued, maintained, and practiced in the fabrication of injection molds. Work to improve documentation and standard practices as a MDE organization
• Support the mold fabrication team in the Corning Taipei facility with modeling and mold design
  

Skill And Knowledge Requirements

[Experience Requirements]

• 4 years minimum in engineering role
• 1 years minimum managing engineering or technical team

• Knowledge of injection molding (process or fabrication)
• Strong communication skill and comfortable presenting information
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills demonstrated using advanced data analysis
