• Master’s degree in Communications/Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with LTE, 5G NR protocols (RRC/PDCP/RLC/MAC) development.
• Experience in C, C++, and embedded Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in modem performance analysis and improvement: call performance (CSFB/VoLTE/EPSFB/VoNR, WiFi calling), data performance, connectivity performance, thermal/power performance.
• Domain expertise in cellular protocol stack: control plane, data plane, NAS/RRC/SDAP/PDCP/RLC/MAC/PHY, ENDC, NRDC.
• Knowledge and experience in 3GPP (NR, LTE, WCDMA).
• Understanding of network protocol such as TCP/IP and excellent programming skill in C/C++/Python.
• Ability to learn new technologies and new skills, including 3GPP, software development, lab equipment, programming language etc.
  
  

About The Job

As a cellular modem firmware engineer, you will focus on development, integration, customization and verification of modem features on Android devices, working closely with vendors. You will be the point of contact for all debugging, triaging and fixing modem issues from factory and certification (GCF/PTCRB/IOT/FIT). You will also be responsible for developing performance optimized connectivity solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop modem software and verify end to end modem feature functionalities and performance to improve user experience, including but not limited to call, voice quality, data, thermal/power, connectivity.
• Identify modem software performance gaps by analyzing system requirement, design, software implementation, issue analysis and simulation of real world scenarios.
• Debug, analyze and fix modem issues from factory, certification (GCF/PTCRB/IOT), field and end users.
• Identify key performance scenarios and recreate the scenario in the lab environment for further research and development for more optimized solutions.
