Primary Purpose

Description

To manage the engineering department within an assigned business unit. Delegates workload, sets priorities and reviews and guides engineering projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages the activities of assigned staff to ensure the development of new products and modifications of existing products meet commitments per full justification.
• Participates in recruitment and selection activities. Ensures that department is properly staffed.
• Evaluates staff performance and provides appropriate advice, counsel and guidance. Prepares and conducts timely performance reviews. Ensures that staff receives appropriate training.
• Leads staff to develop strategic and technically sound products. Utilizes New Product Development Procedure and AQP processes through field.
• Reviews and approves engineering project documentation and engineering analysis for consistency and accuracy. Reviews and screens product development requests for feasibility and completeness.
• Ensures that plant personnel, marketing and other appropriate personnel are notified on product changes, modifications and extensions.
• Interfaces with all levels of management to resolve problems and issues that have reached critical level regarding design, quality, etc. Provides technical support to marketing, sales and outside customers.
• Develops, implements and reports on other strategic areas for assigned areas such as Project Status and related issues, barriers and concerns regarding the release of major new products.
  

Scope

• Lead ~11 staffs in engineering group.
• Review and approval all engineering documents.
• Review and approve all engineering purchaser request.
• Review and control product LGM %.
  

Required

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or technical degree in related field.
  

Preferred

• Master Degree in Engineering or Business or technical degree in related field.
  

WORK EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED:

• Ten (10) years minimum of FPCA or PCBA manufacturing experience
  

Preferred

• Previous supervisory experience. Understand Product design and Product costing
  

SKILLS & ABILITIES: REQUIRED:

• Knowledgeable regarding customer specification requirements.
  

Strong computer skills; experience with spreadsheets, presentation, word-processing, database software and statistical analysis software.

CAD Literate (3D Required, NX Preferred).

Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set goals and priorities in order to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.

Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Strong presentation skills to prepare and deliver effective presentations to customers and Molex personnel.

Excellent customer relations’ skills. Must be sensitive to the customer’s needs and show a sense of urgency to address customer issues.

Preferred

• General understanding of basic accounting and business investment justification for preparing quotes applied cost analysis for customers.
  

Knowledge of Design of Experiment and statistical methods and analysis proficiency.
