Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience analyzing workloads on real systems or devices.
- Experience with C/C++/Python.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field or 5 years of industry experience.
- Experience bringing up full software stacks including Android/ChromeOS, drivers, applications, application automation (test drivers).
- Experience in ASIC architecture performance analysis, tools, and simulators at different abstraction levels (Cycle Accurate, TLM, Functional).
- Knowledge in one or more of these areas: CPU, GPU, ISP, Fabric, Memory, Caches, Camera, Video, Display, Security, compression, storage.
- Knowledge of OS, driver, Firmware, SW stack, OpenGL, OpenCL, Java, Codec.
- Knowledge of hardware performance monitors or profiling, and profiling/tracing tools in Android such as Systrace.

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
You will collaborate with software and hardware architects to characterize the important computing workloads. Your key responsibilities will be analyzing workloads by developing and building new tools and methodologies, and discovering opportunities for pre-silicon architecture optimization. You will use simulation, emulation, and device profiling to build compelling analysis of important workloads. As part of this work, you will participate in the development of technology in compute, media, fabric, memory, etc., and filing associated patents.

Responsibilities
- Write code to develop simulators and models to evaluate workloads.
- Study the behavior and characterization of a variety of workloads, on both devices and simulators.
- Participate in architectural design and evaluation of silicon designs.
- Perform pre-silicon performance study and post-silicon validation.
- Communicate the analysis results in both qualitative and quantitative fashion.
