Location: Xinyi, Shipai and Songshan Teaching Centre, Taipei

Role Purpose

To keep operational and deliver on our commitment to customers and the safeguarding of our Young Learner students

Challenges & Accountabilities

The British Council has been teaching students in Asia for over eighty years. Our Teaching business is adapting to a dynamic and increasingly competitive environment in both the Adult and Young Learner segments. British Council Taiwan runs a range of face-to-face Young Learner and Adult courses for the general public at its Xin Yi and Shipai teaching centres. The British Council plans to grow the work it does in the face-to-face market and welcomes applicants who can help make this happen.

To help maintain a safe environment for children (under 18) by,
  • consistently checking badges of children, ensuring those with red badges or no badge do not leave the premises
  • consistently checking the badges of adults, ensuring all adults have a valid reason to be on the premises
  • accurately completing the PUR (pick up register), ensuring any problems are recorded
  • reporting any problems immediately to the Coordinator or Child Focal Points
  • ensuring no child is left unsupervised
  • keeping a safe, calm and comfortable environment in the classroom for all students at break times
Main Accountabilities
  • Facilitate students’ learning of English in the classroom.
  • Work with and assist the Teacher in class.
  • Supervise Young Learners during break time, pick-up and drop-off.
  • Ensure all Young Learners, parents/ guardians and guests are provided with an Identification Badge when on the Teaching Centre premises.
  • Ensure guidelines are applied and upheld in line with Child Protection and Health and Safety policies.
Requirements
  • college or above
  • medium to high level of English proficiency
  • work at least 16 hours (4 shifts) within a week, must available on Wednesday and Friday afternoon and work on weekends
