  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience with mobile device testing and cellular performance validating.
  • Experience with chipset-specific logging or debugging tools.
  • Experience with cellular system feature bring-up, such as issue reporting and resolution, validation, or regression testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with regulatory requirements and processes for wireless consumer devices, including FCC, PTCRB, CTIA, 3GPP, ETSI, TIA/EIA, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with cellular communication tester (callbox) and/or base stations.
  • Understanding of wireless communication standards (L1/L2/L3) and implementation (including but not limited to 5GNR, LTE, 802.11ax, 802.11ac).
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including ability to multitask across various disciplines and tasks.
  • Proficient in developing detailed test plans to evaluate performance, identify the root cause of any discrepancies, and troubleshoot problems with devices and test platforms.

About The Job

As a Technical Program Manager for Cellular System Performance, you’ll have a background in 4G (LTE), 5G (NR), Radio Frequency (RF), and Over-the-Air (OTA) testing and debugging. You will be directly involved in cross-functional team engagement, to achieve and validate the best RF and OTA performance.

In this role, you will validate innovative RF and antenna systems for Pixel and devices to achieve premier system performance from concept to launch. You will also be directly involved in cross-functional team engagement to give input on designs to improve our hardware until it meets Google’s standards of quality and reliability. You’ll develop test plans and procedures to assess cellular system performance and present to relevant audiences and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Modem Systems/Antenna/RF/Software teams, bring-up, validate, and test complex cellular system features.
  • Develop test plans to validate LTE and NR system performance in conducted and OTA test environments.
  • Manage cellular system performance testing across all phases (definition, debugging, testing, scheduling, verification of test results, report generation, and delivery).
  • Identify and recommend creative ways to leverage and/or enhance existing practices.
