Job Summary
As a global leader in networking solution innovation, Super Micro Computer’s mission is to develop and provide the market with end-to-end computing solutions and high-performance networking products. We have an immediate need for a Sr. Hardware Design Engineer to join our talented and bright design team. The candidate will play a key role in the development process of in-house server motherboards, by working collaboratively with the cross-functional engineering team as well as outside partners to ensure the robust design of the boards. The candidate must be self-motivated and possess a strong will to do great things, with a result-driven mindset to develop the most competitive and endurance board products.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
• Responsible for or help to create specifications for X86 server-related designs, design schemes, project functional blocks, correctly selecting parts and vendors, testing equipment for new projects, and modifying/enhancing existing designs
• Responsible for schematics captures, layout check, BOM creation, and debugging and testing of server board/add-on card/backplane products
• Collaborate with validation engineers and labs to discover and solve any quality-related issues of designs in the early stages
• Create fluent technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, test procedures, etc.
• Setup testing environment, resolve complicated issues and work on critical engineering problems
• Ensure product conforms to engineering specifications, and regulatory and customer performance expectations
• Transfer products to manufacturing with clear documentation, and help C.M. and technical support to solve problems
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is preferred and a Master’s degree is strongly desirable
• 8+ years of hardware engineering experience are preferred.
• Deep understanding of X86 server architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of circuit design (digital, analog, power) and PCB layout
• Prior experience with motherboard design in enterprise networking servers is strongly desired
• Strong communication, written, oral, and interpersonal skills
• Must have the ability to work well with the cross-functional team effectively
• Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving capability
• Self-motivated, team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
