The incumbent is a key member of the senior management team and reports to the Managing Director (Bridgestone Taiwan). S/he will also report to the Vice President, Supply Chain (matrix) based in Singapore Regional Head Office.

S/he will manage the end-to-end supply chain activities for Bridgestone Taiwan covering Logistics, Procurement and Planning.

Collaborating with the VP, Supply Chain and Country Management Team focusing on the 4Cs: Customer / Cost / Cash / Carbon to create competitive advantage as a business purpose; other major responsibilities include the alignment, development and implementation of supply chain strategies.

As a Business Leader, s/he will manage operational aspects related to this role covering order management, service delivery (customer), people development as well as initiatives/projects across in-country, region and global.

Supply Chain Management

  • Oversees the day-to-day administration, general management issues and planning within the supply chain domain, including supervision of staff to ensure productivity metrics are met.
  • Design and implement programs to optimize all supply chain fragments and relevant functions to meet the demands of all business units and both external/internal customers via increased efficiencies and quality service levels.
  • Recognize and transform commercial ambitions, business metrics and requirements into concise objectives, programs/projects, and strategies for supply chain business unit.
  • Manage the Supply Chain CAPEX and OPEX budget and ensure alignment to respective costs management guidelines.
  • Ensure delivery of end-to-end supply chain performance metrics are adhered in relative to Cost, Inventory/Working Capital, Service Levels, Safety, Quality and Environmental Standards and sustainability standards.
  • Lead the design and deployment of the required systems for enablement towards an effective and efficient process framework and collaborate with key customers to establish integrated/collaborative supply chains.
  • Review the full spectrum operating results for Supply Chain Management and respond with pro-active countermeasures in events of target deviations.

Planning

  • Lead the execution of the local IBP process in collaboration with MD and other stakeholders utilizing basis from regional standards and handbooks.
  • Responsible for Demand Forecasting, Supply Planning (Domestic/Imports), Inventory Management activities for both Direct Materials and Finished Goods (includes collaboration with Marketing/Product teams on phase-in/phase-out planning).
  • Collaborate and Plan with Manufacturing team on raw material procurement and supply to develop/implement necessary process and system for Demand & Supply optimization; minimize conversion cost while concurrent achieving inventory and order-to-fill metrics.
  • Develop and execute necessary measures to align with Sales and Finance teams on metrics to minimize non-productive inventory levels and scrap costs.
  • Establish realistic performance assessment and reports to ensure optimal inventory levels at each stock site for multiple complex categories and locations.

Warehouse & Logistics

  • Drive and ensure optimum efficiency of warehouse operations, achieving all operational metrics and delivering quality level in customers’ satisfaction.
  • Manage staff training, warehouse operations and inventory control management (FEFO, capacity, area organization, visual management etc.).
  • Oversee the development and implementation of warehouse operation systems considering the requirements on product handling capabilities, capacity planning, equipment utilization, inventory management and operational processes.
  • Perform consistent review and preparation of staffing, operations workflow, warehouse capacity and action plans and ensure time, quality and customer service standards are attained.
  • Responsible to maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, enforcing, and following SOPs and complied with all statutory requirements.
  • Drive and ensure operational excellence for export operations and identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes focusing the consolidation of warehousing and distribution operations.

Procurement

  • Responsible for sourcing and procuring activities on both Direct Materials (for tire production) and Indirect Materials & Services; objectively tasked to enhance supplier collaboration, stakeholder engagement, expand and increase sustainable procurement capabilities and maximize revenue increment.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to innovate and improve organizational capabilities, procurement efficiency and support business objectives.
  • Lead the procurement processes (PO creation, receiving, invoicing etc.) with major vendors to ensure financial discipline and regulatory compliance across in-country, region and global policies.
  • Develop and maintain Service-Level Agreement (SLAs) relationships with vendor, identifying quality issues, mitigate business risks including costs tracking and analysis of vendor(s) and key performance metrics e.g., fill rate and lead time.
  • Manage the selection process and criterion of suppliers ensuring alignment towards organization strategies, act of prudence and business requirements.
  • Develop required systems to drive procurement efficiency, compliance, risk management and design roadmaps for comprehensive evaluation/negotiation of suppliers pertaining to regional and global strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with regional stakeholders to enable a sustainable strategy for Bridgestone Taiwan to support the delivery of global metrics related to carbon emissions and material circularity.

Requirements

  • Masters/Bachelor in discipline of Engineering, Materials Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain or its equivalent.
  • 12 - 17 years of relevant experience in multinational organizations with proven track record in managing an agile and resilient supply chain function.
  • Automotive / Manufacturing background preferred; and Certification in Six Sigma / Operations / Inventory Management / Project Management is an advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in development for both Direct & Indirect End-To-End Procurement and Supply Chain strategies.
  • Ability in managing cost performance, executing Demand & Supply forecasting & distribution for broad range of products across both region and global context.
  • Strong experience in leading high-impact sustainable strategic sourcing approaches, supply chain management and business process improvement initiatives across APAC region.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a results and process-driven mindset focusing on business process mapping, operational accuracy and quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and project management skills with influencing strength and managing people development for the team.
  • A collaborative team player with strong leadership ability to develop strategies and be “hands-on” when required.
  • Language proficiency in English and Mandarin are required as this role will work with both internal and external stakeholders across different countries in the region.
