About this team
The Raw Materials Innovation team is looking for talented individuals who are ready to shape, surprise, and engineer delight into the future of our guests’ experiences. We don’t rely on traditional research and development methods - we push the boundaries of what’s possible through raw materials innovation principles and material science. Our team constantly innovates new materials and creates unique experiences that our guests never knew they wanted. With your help, we can engineer new sensations and bring our guests together for an unforgettable experience. You will work on short-, mid-, and long-term projects to define the state of the art, lead research, build insight, generate unique points of view, create prototypes, and prove principles.

A day in the life:

• Coordinate vendor visits during trial runs to capture process flows, variables, and control parameters for each project
• Work closely with vendor R&D and technical teams to troubleshoot and create final production processes
• Review research papers and manage the database while following product standards to lululemon global quality standards
• Track projects and update the RM Innovation team regularly on sample dispatch and delivery monitoring
• Follow up with vendor partners on the status and update the team at every stage
• Understand basic fabric manufacturing and run fabric testing at the LLO lab, gaining knowledge of testing parameters and generation in the system and following through with our 3rd party inspection service partner
• Prompt the next steps in the development process and update project progress data in the lululemon system (smart sheet)
• Actively participate in brainstorming sessions with the SSC team

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Textile with a strong emphasis on fiber, textile, or material
• 1-2 years of apparel industry experience in fiber, textiles, or materials required
• Experience working on-site with fabric manufacturers
• Proven team player with knowledge of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements
• Ability to monitor projects and communicate understanding to key stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Job responsibility and passion to grow and support teamwork
• Capable of capturing projects in the presentation form
• Regular travel and visit to mills at multiple locations
• Interest in learning and adapting to processes and systems by training and understanding
• Communicates with honesty and kindness and creates the space for others to do the same
