The Device Platform group under Device OS group is part of Amazon Lab126. As a Principal Solutions Architect in Device Platform group, you will be the technical leader of team building 3P FTVE solutions by partnering with leading SOC vendors and ODMs.

The Team

The Device Platform group is part of the larger Device OS group which is responsible for FireOS software. You will bring new experience for our customers by helping to build new exciting devices. You will have strong influence over the FireTV (1P and 3P) products roadmap. You will engage with technology partners to lead long term development with a focus on architecture, performance, power, and integration. You are a strong technical leader who has the ability to influence and guide diverse engineering teams in the areas of consumer embedded devices platform software and factory diagnostics software. You will work closely with silicon vendors, Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and ODMs.

Role

As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. In this role, you will:

• Work with key stakeholders in product management and executive teams to define upcoming product strategy and requirements
• Evaluate consumer hardware SOC and key system components
• Influence SOC vendors and corresponding IP vendors roadmap.
• Influence ODMs with Amazon solutions for 3P Products
• Act as a technical liaison between customers, engineering teams and support
• Author or otherwise contribute to Device Org 3P customer-facing publications such as whitepapers
• Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
• Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks and change control
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
  

10+ years of experience in developing product solution with consumer electronics system company, SOC vendor or similar industry.

• 5+ years of background in definition of architecture, design, and performance of embedded systems or SOC.
• Technical with a track record of successful delivery as an individual contributor and leader
  

Demonstrated success in delivering high quality, innovative products based on rapidly evolving technologies

• Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders. Ability to engage and influence senior leaders
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
• Possess knowledge of SoC architectures, ARM architecture, GPU Core, Multimedia pipelines
• Experience is developing and architecting platform software for consumer embedded system devices with Android and/or Linux
• Keep up with new technologies in industry and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals
